Introduction
This lecture of Hadrat Moulana Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Saheb (Dâmat Barakâtuhum) took place at the foot of Mount Uhud in Madinah Munawwarah on 2 Muharram 1408 A.H. (26 August 1987). This was a heart-rending discourse filled with Imân. There were several senior Ulama present whose eyes were filled with tears. This is an English translation of the original Urdu that was transcribed from an audio- cassette. May Allâh accept this bayân and make it beneficial for the ummah.
You have heard a hadith of Mishkât Sharîf. Allâh Ta’âla has granted a great favour and procedure to his sinful servants on the tongue of Rasulullâh Sallallâhu alaihi wasallam. Every person is indeed sinful. Mullâ Ali Qâri has explained that the word ‘khattâ‘ used in the hadith means ‘extremely sinful’. What is the cure for this? The cure is excessiveistighfâr and taubah (seeking forgiveness and repenting). The cure matches the illness. Thus Rasulullâh (Sallallâhu alaihi wasallam) said,
"Every human sins excessively and the best of sinners are the repentant ones." (Mishkât-al Masâbîh p.204.)
What are the conditions for taubah and when is it accepted. The Muhaddithîn [the authorities of hadith] have mentioned three conditions for it.
Sheikh Muhiuddîn Abû Zakarriya An-Nawawî has stated (Sharh Muslim lil Imâm An-Nawawi, vol.2 p. 346) that there are three conditions for seeking repentance:
(1) to stop committing the sin. Some people, while continuously staring at unveiled females, say "Lâ howlâ wa lâ quwwata, Moulana, just look at how unveiled these women are!" While they are reading ALâ howlâ", they are also admiring the women. Such a Lâ howlâ is itself sayingLâ howlâ. Such istighfâr is itself in need of seeking forgiveness. Thus repentance is only accepted once a person refrains from the sin.
(2) The second condition is that one should express remorse and regret on perpetrating the sin. The reality of remorse is to regret in the heart. The regret should resemble that of the Sahaba (RadiAllâhu anhum). When they realised that Allâh and His Rasûl (Sallallâhu alaihi wasallam) were displeased with them, then the entire world would become distressful for them and they would remain aloof from their souls. This is from among the rights of love. This should be the effect of displeasing the one who one loves excessively. If one commits a sin, nothing should feel good with the displeasure and wrath of Allâh. One’s children do not seem good. Food and drink do not taste good. One’s home also does not feel good. The whole world becomes straitened in his eyes. He becomes detached from his soul until he performs two rakats of salâtut taubah and repents with tearing eyes in order to please Allâh. To use the bounties of this world while perpetrating a sin or persisting on a sin is contrary to the position of a slave. There was a poet in Badâyu who loved his wife extremely. I present to you the poetry of a poet who describes the rights of love:
.
I saw the pulse of the universe drowning,
when I saw the temperament of my beloved disturbed.
In other words, when my wife became slightly displeased, I saw the pulse of the entire universe drowning. Look at him, he did not perceive his own pulse deteriorating, but found the entire world to be dark. From this it is realised that the right of love is that one’s condition should become as described above when the beloved is angered. Yet this love (for a wife) is temporary and will terminate in a few days. What the rights of Allâh are over us cannot even be explained. He is even closer to us than our jugular veins. We owe our existence to Him. All our matters, whether related to this world or the next are attached to Him. Even if the entire world praises us, it will not be of any avail as long as Allâh does not say to us on the day of Judgement that I am pleased with you. I remember the couplet of Allâmah Sayyid Sulaimân Nadwi. He says that if many people praise you in the world, do not judge your worth by their statements. The price uttered by the slaves does not give one the price of the slave. The value of the slave is enhanced by pleasing the master. Thus Allamah Sayyid Sulaiman Nadwi says,
We remained like this or that.
There we have to see how we were.
Here we are praised excessively but what will our worth be there? This will only be realised on the day of Judgement. Let me relate another couplet of his because sometimes a person is duped by this temporary life.
What joy and grief can there be in a two-day life,
One will always remain a traveller no matter what the condition.
It is not necessary that the one who is wealthy in this world should also be at ease within his heart. Moulana Rumi says,
"If marble is laid on the tomb of a disbeliever, if all the kings of the world lay wreaths of flowers there, music is played and there is a military salute, but if the wrath and punishment of Allâh is descending in the grave, the marble o

Huh … that was LONG! I like the message though - it is really good! I think it is most important to realize that we ALL sin - nobody is without and thus are in need to repent and ask for forgivness! Death can lurk just around the corner - we never know when it will hit us! By then we have to be prepared though … thus most folks don’t think of that!

Karin: All the Praise be to Allah. Our Belvoed. Yes, indeed we have so much sins ( O, My poor soul) and if did not with Allah’s love, mercy and bless how could we live in this world and hereafter.
I really can’t bear my own sins, and hopefully Allah our beloved Creator will forgive our sins and enhance our soul ONLY with ALLAH”S LOVE moreover HIS LOVE is the real purpose of our live and with HIS LOVE, ALLAH has spreads a light to our heart with love towards other’s creation ie. Children, parents, spouse in marriage, animals. (O, My forgetfull soul ). But if Allah’s love have stated deeply in our heart we wouldn’t felt need with other’s love anymore. As for love towards others have change for good into responsibality as a humanbeing and to fulllfill the task as what with the way Allah’s pleasure. Jazakumullah for kakibangku and tetamu for the explanation.Yes, the words spam sound like a ‘crime’ to me whenever I have encountered that name. Thanks to both of you. I thought the meaning like some sort of block other’s site/email or either way. Poor me, so naive regarding the precise meaning of technolgy terms and definations. Not to mention on how to do it or manage it correctly.
Btw: Those things are not so important compared to the fact (painful fact actually) that the days of Ramadhan has passing by so fastly. If we just ignored the day, it will left us behind with all it’s fadhilah (uncountable) with our busying days of dealing with dunya affairs (just wait a minute ‘our dunya affairs’ We really have to concentrating with our silent moments, special days now with the Month of Ramadhan.
Likewise, the Hadith that all of us know that Prophet saw said that if ummah’s know the Fadhilah of Ramadhan they would wish that all the year was Ramdhan. SubhanAllah.
Allah, have give us the oppurtunity for us to be included in HIS beloved and obiedeince servants, Arif Billah, Muttaqin, Ahlul-Jannah, Ahlul Fai’zun, Mafu’ anhu,Al-Mustaghfirin and all kinds off bless and mercy. This 6-5 days left s the our whole life chance to do the finshing of our spiritual over-haul and grab the best gift ever LAILATUL-QADR!

Imam Ghazali, Imam Rafaie, Sheikh Haddad and all Muslims great scholars has indicated within the meaning of Hadith of Prophet (p.b.u.h) that the most hardest train for us is to face the trail of an-nasf. In order to facing the nafs we have to realize that Nasf comes in more than one categorize.
1) Nafs Ammarah Bi-assu’
2)Nafs Lawwamah
3)Nafs Muth’mainnah
It comes to us in many ways. After we has manage by did not do the maksiat of outside action (Alhamdulillah, but keep praying Allah strengthen our Iman) then we have to realize that we have a very dangerous enemy. Our own Nafs. First of all we have really try to avoid the first one. Nafs Ammarah Bi-assu’, if not we will be in the ‘khasirin’.Nauzubillah. We sometimes really have to be aware of inward feeling that really people can’t see but we knew. The feeling of Riya’, Ujub, Takabbur, Sum’ah, Ananiyah,. Nauzubulillah. It hard to train ourselves but as a reminder for myslef and all tha sahabah we really have to do the postmoterm in each second. If we look at somebody we fell something then ask bacl to oursleves? Is this and that? p Allah know what are playing in my heart. When we do a lot of prayers for examples ;nawafil prayer, qiamullail, 20 rakats of tarawih, we fell wah! We a really great huh.
Astaghfirullah. Becareful myself, ikhwah wal-akhwat. It’s could destroyed our reward to make thing worst ALLAH dind’t ever accept and look at our ibadah. Nauzubillah ( We can’t live without the fact only a second that Allah didn’t look at us, how could we?) How pathetic. o Allah. But there are ways, beside training ourselves to do everthing for Allah’s pleasures and be a mukhlisin (it was hard isn’t it), but we have to worship ALLAH without know the meaning of tired, make ourselves do the ibadah also with the feeling of khudu’,shukur and tawaddhu infront of our GREAT CREATOR.
We are nothing compare to HIM! WE ARE REALLY NOTHING. If we keep praying day and night, without Allah’s mercy its doesnt mean anything, Allah didnt need all that to prove HIS GREATNESS. ( We the one who need that prayer). Besides, if we also keep praying days and night and dropping our tears fullheartedly it weren’t mean anything also without HIS love and mercy. Furthermore, if not with HIS bless and mercy we can’t even stand one rakkat to worship HIM. (O, Allah, Praise be Upon YOU, SubhanAllah). So who are we? the weak and poor servants of Allah. Haqer wal al-faqer.
Akhiran. Imam Rafaie ada meyebut. ” Tiada penyeksaan yg lebih berat yg Allah timpakan bagi Mu’min melainkan tiada merasa kelazatan iman ketika mengingatiKU, berdzikir kepadaKU, kerana ianya merupakan nikmat yag paling membahagiakan. Semua itu kerana banyakkan karat dosa di dalam diri mereka. Mereka meyedarinya, kemudian lupa semula kerana lalainya mereka.”
Ya Allah. Bayangkan! Tidak mungkin sanggup kita hidup dengan tidak merasai kelazatan zikrullah. Walau sedetik. Tiada upaya dan tiada makna andai tiada kelazatan mengingatiNYA. Bersolat, tidak merasa nikmat ubudiyyah, berdizkir, fikiran melayang mengingati dunia dan manusia. Berdoa, jiwa sibuk menyusun atur dunia. Tertekan hati mencari hiburan selain dunia. Wahai diri sendiri! Sedarlah tiadalah guna kamu hidup andai kamu tidak diterima sebagai hambanya, beribadah, zikrullah dan menyintainya. Sedarlah wahai diriku sendiri.

The body is a world where battles are waged.

Bediuzzaman Said Nursi has said:-
Be certain of this, that the highest aim of creation and its most sublime result is belief in God. The most exalted rank of humanity is the knowledge of GOD. The most radiant happiness and sweetness bounty for jinn and mankind is the love of God contained withinthe knowledge of God; the purest joy for the human spirit and the purest delight for man’s heart is the spiritual estacy contained within the knowledge and love of God.”
The words of Bediuzzman Said Nursi will really string into Mu’min heart. Please do take a time to take a peek into his book;Rasaeil An-Nur. We will astonished and it will strenghthen our Iman. InshAllah. The biggest mukjizat is AlQuran. The sign of Allah is everywere in every creatures. Just tadabbur and tafakkur.

Mereka macam kita dulu, sangat suka dan gembira amat dengan raya. Baju raya nya, kasut raya mcm2. Apapun kita meraikkan mereka. Namun moga2 dianggap ibadah juga layan depa.inshAllah.:)Raya memang sangat mengembirakan bagi Mu’min. Itu yg Allah beri. Namun sebelum tiba Eid, kita habiskan dulu satu Rahmah dr Allah. Ramadhan ni.
SuhanAllah terseksanya jiwa Ramadhan dah nak pergi. Bagai semalam mengucapkan Ahlan Ramadhan dan ibarat sekelip mata, Selamat Tinggal Ramadhan(ooh belum lagi, mari kita habiskannya dengan cinta dan ibadah). Namun Alhamdulillah. Moga segalanya peroleh barakah.
Sukar diungkap perasaan kita semua rasanya barangkali. Semuanya terhimpun rahsia dalam hati. Berpisah dengan bulan Ramadhan memang menyeksakan. Walau diakhirnya merupakan permulaan kepada satu perayaan menyambut kemenangan. Sebenarnya ini bukan isu sentimental atau tidak. Ini isu hati yang sangat butuh akan Allah dan segala dariNya. Seorang Imam masjid Uia seringkali menangis di dalam sujudnya,(jelas kedengran melalui speker belah sister) Jesteru, isu sentimetel gender tidak timbul di dalam isu ini. Isu mencari Ma’rifatulah adalah denai-denai panjang yang sangat halus dan penuh maknawi. Mencari Ma’rifatullah bukan sekadar hanya dengan mengatkan: ” Ya Allah Aku sangat cinta dan rindu padaMu jesteru cintailah Aku juga ya Allah.” Namun ianya menatijahkan teguh pd aqedah sohih dan taat pd syariat juga sentiasa memperhalusi akan pembersihan hati. Sifat2 mazmumah dilempar jauh ke tasik taubah begitu juga nafsu Ammarah Bis-Assu’ dan Lawamah kita cuba kikis dari dalam jiwa kita. Mungkin kita rasa payah namun bila hati dan jiwa sentiasa dahagakan Redha Allah dan menetapkan matlamat di depan adalah Allah dan sentiasa merasakan diri ini tiada apa-apa, maka bermulalah perjalanan yg panjang. Kerajinan beribadah, hati yg sentiasa rindu akan Allah dan bibir yg sentiasa melafaz zikrullah juga apabila melihat maksiat rasa terhiris pedih dan kasihan kerana mereka membuat maksiat kepada Allah.
Syeikh Nuruddin pernah menaqalkan: ” Ulama-ulama’ kita apabila berasa malas membuat ibadah, maka mereka mengikatkan cukuplah diri, biar mati menjadi waktu rehat dan tidurmu”.
Kita?
Sudahlah berselirat noda, bersalut dosa, rasa ubudiyyah kurang, sesal atas dosa juga jarang2 namun paling penting jangan mengulangi akan dosa-dosa itu. Maksiat, cukuplah sekali. Tidak berulang.(ingin sentuh juga, wanita itu fitnah, menghampiri zina itu padah, mengatakan cinta pd Allah namun berbuat dosa itu tidak diendah Allah pula, berdua-duakan makan dicafe semsa iftar membuat kan kita tidak peka dengan Rahmah Allah! Tidak jiddiyah di dalam mencari Maghfirah Allah! Membuang manisnya Hubbulallah di lautan nafsu!)–> maaf sebab selama Ramadahan yg berlalu memang mengelak lalu di Cafe, atau ke Bazar. Namun dua hr lepas atas iftor PGGS terpaksa lalu di satu Cafe, Allah. Kesian mereka tidak terasakan manisnya segala di Bulan Barakah ini?
Namun harus jua kita berhati-hati memelihara hati ketika melihat ahlul-fujur hendaklah bukan dengan jiwa yg takaabur dan ujub sebaliknya dengan hati yg khudu’ dan tunduk juga marah kerana Allah bukan kerana Nafsu Ammarah Bis-Assu’. Imam Al-Ghazali memesan agar ketika melihat akan ahli maksiat juga ada adabnya agar hati kita tidak lari dari ikhlas kerana Allah.
Ramai manusia tertipu dengan dunia dan nafsu sendiri. Ibn A’thaillah telah menyebut di dalam matan Al-Hikamnya.” Ramai manusia apabila mebuat maksiat dan dosa jesteru berkata.” Andai ini adalah dosa atau ini maksiat dan dosa nescaya Allah akan marah dan menjauhkan aku dari Allah.”
Mafhumnya: Dimaksudkan di sini adalah pabila manusia berbuat dosa dan maksiat mereka selalu hanya menyangka sedangkan pd Allah dengan ketidaksungguhan mereka hanya dengan sangaka-sangka sudah menunjukan kesalahafahamn mereka. Mereka membuat dosa, maka Allah tidak suka. Apatah lagi sering pula memudahkan dosa-dosa itu.
Tambah Ibn ‘Athaillah lagi ” Ramai dari manusia yg berasa sesal akan dosanya namun tidak bangkit dari dosa dan meneruskan kembali dosa mereka, jesteru mereka itu orang-orang tertipu dan sesat(dengan tipudaya syaitan)”
Mafhumnya: Bayangkan betapa ramai dr kita kadang2 kita juga merasa sesal dan berdosa akan dosa2 kita namun hanya sekadar sesal sahaja apalah gunanya. Terus menerus pula melakukan dosa dan maksiat, malah tidak bangkit dan keluar dari maksiat, sekadar sesal di mulut dan hati namun tidak disertakan dengan taat.Apalah gunanya. Mereka itu telah terpedaya dengan syaitan dan hawa nafsu.
Nauzubillah. Seluruhi ayat 7 Surah Mu’min.
Apapun Rahmah Allah tetap terus hingga lewat Ramadhan. Moga2 kita istiqomah hinga 11 bulan akan datang.Amin.
Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda di dalam kalamnya yg mulia: ” Wahai Sofiyyah ibu saudara Rasulullah s.a.w dan wahai Fatimah binti Muhammad ! Selamatkanlah diri kamu dari neraka, sesungguhnya aku tidak dapat mempertahankan kalian dari azab Allah”
